STATEMENT BY THE CHAIRMAN OF CPMB


The Chairman of the Cyprus Potato Marketing Board(CPMB) Mr.Neoclis Tsappis ,made the following statement :

“ I would like to refer to the information bearing on the Government and political parties have agreed to remove four Semi –govermental Bodies including the CPMB within the framework for the improvement of the Financial situation of the Republic of Cyprus.
The CPMB considers that this decision was taken without the whole issue be studied in depth and there is no reason to remove the CPMB because any removal would not contribute anything to the state's finances and will create huge problems for the Cypriot potato industry. As it is known the CPMB is self-funded from 1.9.2010 and does not receive any financial assistance from the government.
The CPMB acts in every direction for removal of this initial decision. I am optimistic that we will have positive results and that the CPMB will remain for many years, serving producers and Cyprus potato industry.”
