FRUIT LOGISTICA update - 8 February 2012

Nearly 90,000 tonnes of potatoes are exported annually from Cyprus. Key customers include Germany, Great Britain, Belgium and Greece, says Neoclis Tsappis, Chairman of the Cyprus Potato Marketing Board. The organization has been at FRUIT LOGISTICA every year since 2005 because it is an "ideal place for contacts", especially from Eastern Europe. Most of the Cypriot exhibitors are regulars at the trade fair in Berlin. This year, they are presenting oranges and Mandora, a cross between oranges and mandarins, along with fresh herbs and lettuce. "We don't appear at many exhibitions, but FRUIT LOGISTICA is of special importance to us", explains Petros Michaelides, Head of the Commercial Section at the Cypriot Embassy.

Mandoras, Kräuter und Kartoffeln aus Zypern
Rund 90.000 Tonnen Kartoffeln werden im Jahresdurchschnitt aus Zypern exportiert. Die Hauptkunden seien Deutschland, Großbritannien, Belgien und Griechenland, sagt Neoclis Tsappis, Vorsitzender des Cyprus Potato Marketing Board. Seit 2005 nutze man die FRUIT LOGISTICA als „idealen Platz für Kontakte“ gerade auch nach Osteuropa. So sind die meisten zyprischen Aussteller Stammgäste unter dem Funkturm. Sie präsentieren Orangen, die Apfelsinen-Mandarinen-Kreuzung Mandora, frische Kräuter und Salate. „Wir sind nicht auf vielen Messen vertreten, aber die FRUIT LOGISTICA ist für uns von besonderer Bedeutung“, sagt Petros Michaelides, Leiter der Handelsabteilung der Botschaft von Zypern.
